Zinia's Watercolor Strips

Hey there fangerines! It’s Zinia here and today I’d like to share with you a really easy mixed media watercolor layout I created inspired from Amy’s latest collection Hustle & Heart.

The whole idea started when I saw one of the cut apart cards from a paper called “The Little Things”.  I really loved the paint strokes on that card and the colors were arranged in a really beautiful order. So I decided to recreate that look on…

The whole idea started when I saw one of the cut apart cards from a paper called “The Little Things”.  I really loved the paint strokes on that card and the colors were arranged in a really beautiful order. So I decided to recreate that look on my background.

I took out my watercolor palettes and I tried to mix shades as close to that card as possible. Those colors go through the whole collection so using them for my background will ensure that all the embellishments will match perfectly with it.

So following the color order I painted some watercolor strokes with a flat wash application and a big flat brush.

I wanted everything to be balanced and smooth so I decided to embellish my page by using color-coordinating products on top of each stripe. One of my favorite embellishments to use when I decorate my pages in a color coordinating style is clear stickers. Putting them on top of matching colors intensifies them and helps them pop.

As I was inspired from the card, I decided to use a white foam word for my title to create a similar look. For a final touch, I decided to sprinkle some gold splatters using a Heidi Swapp color shine spray.
