Let's Do Lunch

What’s better than the feeling of making the world a better place? The feeling of making the world a better place AND enjoying delicious food, stimulating conversation, and exchanging bright ideas. The season of giving is right around the corner and I wanted to share an opportunity to make some good happen in the world.

Recently, I had the chance to hand letter invitations to the Eat.Drink.Give. event supporting City Year Los Angeles– a non-profit dedicated to helping K-10 students all over the city. I loved creating an invitation that was formal but still included playful hand lettering and whimsical botanicals. It felt like a good balance between both worlds.

City Year means a lot to me and JC, who actually volunteered to be a part of it when he was just out of college. If you aren’t familiar, City Year sends young volunteers into struggling schools in order to help students who have difficulty with reading and math. The volunteers tutor, mentor, and encourage the students, building strong relationships, and improving test scores along the way. JC loved the experience when he did it and even though his corps member days are over, both of us have done our best to help out over the years and I wanted to give you a chance to join in.

While the event did help get a start raising money, the fun isn’t over yet! The dinner was a successful event but I just heard from City Year and there are even more opportunities to do some good!

City Year is excited to share that we have raised $180,000 of our $200,000 goal and there is still time to close the gap. Please click here to make a donation or bid in our exciting online auction here, items include a 5-night stay at the Ritz Carlton in Hawaii!

And while a 5-night stay in Hawaii sounds great, there’s another exciting ticket in the auction. If you haven’t already guessed from the title, I’m auctioning off a lunch with me. You can find a description of the lunch here at Charity Buzz. There are other (awesome) auction items in this online event as well. You can check them out and learn more about this wonderful organization here. If this sounds like something you’d like to do, don’t delay. Bidding ends November 13th! Hope to hear from you soon!
