As much as I love to look at jewelry and admire those who can afford the pieces I often just swoon over, I tend to not enjoy shopping for accessories. In my teens, I was all about trendy pieces that were around the $10 mark. In my early twenties, I met several jewelry designers making unique pieces and purchased those at wholesale prices. In my late twenties, my jewelry taste exceeded my budget (as it still does) and I found myself wanting to invest in real pieces that I would wear often. We also even designed some jewelry pieces that were sold in boutiques, mainly made up of a mix of different chains and charms and trinkets I thought were the perfect mix of trendy yet sophisticated. Now in my thirties, I enjoy a mix of different styles, but I have found that I don't wear too much jewelry, so my everyday pieces (like gold rings and diamond studs) have to be real. The diamond earrings I wear 90% of the time are something I saved up for and treated myself to because I knew I'd always enjoy them. The back twists on to ensure I can sleep with them and do whatever and (hopefully) not lose them. Although I love looking at jewelry and seeing others wear all different kinds, shopping for accessories isn't all that fun for me, mainly because it always seems like I prefer the really expensive items.
Which is why I am loving Rocksbox. I recently collaborated with them and received my first subscription box a couple weeks ago. With Mother's Day around the corner, this seemed like good timing to be telling you about their unique service. It's the premiere destination to borrow jewelry before you buy! Essentially, you take a questionnaire/survey so that your stylist can get an idea of your jewelry preferences and personal style. Then they curate a box for you, which is delivered to your door for just $19. You can wear and style them as much as you want and then return it (easily, because they include the pre-paid mailing label) in exchange for another box of 3 designer jewels to play around with. They feature 30+ amazing designers including Kendra Scott, House of Harlow, Gorjana, and Loren Hope. At any point if you love a particular piece you can choose to purchase it at an insiders' discount. How cool is that? I requested only gold pieces as I am finding that I prefer it these days with my skin tone.
Although I really like everything they sent me, I had to really think about whether I wanted to keep any of it. Considering I have worn the wrap bracelet about every day since receiving it, I decided to hang onto it and send the other two items back. At $44 (typically $55 retail), the Nakamol wrap bracelet is at a fantastic price point too! You can see it in action in this Instagram. I'm already excited to get my next little box and will be sure to update you here once I do. This is the kind of jewelry shopping I can definitely wrap my brain around.
Now for the best part...
