Behind the Scenes | Cut & Paste CHA booth
Hi! I'm Lindsay Bowerman and one of the designers behind a few of Amy's collections for American Crafts. I'm excited Amy invited me to share a little behind the scenes peek at one of the many things that go on at AC. One of my favorite things about working at AC is taking a collection and creating a tradeshow booth around that collection. Amy's Cut & Paste line debuted at CHA in Las Vegas this summer, and a few of us in the office (Erik, Tim and me!) helped pull everything together for the booth.
After looking over a few sketches and ideas, we decided on covering the back wall of the booth with cork to create a huge pinboard and pin some of the icons to the wall, showcasing some of our favorite pieces from the collection.
We made a few trips to Home Depot and Hobby Lobby to pick up our supplies, and it was time to get to work. It was decided it'd be fun to cut the collection name right out of the cork, exposing the teal paint below. To say we were nervous about messing up the cork would be a huge understatement, but it ended up turning out better than we had hoped.
Everything came together once the back wall was finished. The extra large pink scissors on the wall are probably my favorite cut out. I made little push pins by gluing the resin bows from the collection to thumb tacks--they turned out so adorable! I think I need to make a set of those for my home pinboard!
It's always rewarding to see the whole collection come together at tradeshows. It's really the first time that we as designers see everything together and seeing it in a booth adds to the experience!
We have an exciting new collection with several new products in the works for Amy's January release, so stay tuned!
