are you kitting?

Lately I have been rather obsessed with scrapbooking from kits. The challenge for me is to only use the items that come in the kit exclusively. Managed to do that quite successfully using Studio Calico's Paper Moon:

And here are my layouts from The Girls Loft June Vintage Whimsy kit (my favorite kit ever!)

Do you love scrapbooking from kits as much as I do?

As you can imagine, this was a very hard secret to keep. Thanks for the great guesses, you all had me laughing out loud at quite a few of them.

This scrapbooking line encompasses my two passions and I hope scrapbookers everywhere can relate to the themes found throughout the line. It's fun and versatile, appealing to a broad range of interests. Playing off my love for fashion, travel, crafts and home office, the line combines an extensive color palette and quirky elements- sewing machines, silhouettes, airplanes- into a highly usable collection brimming with possibilities.

To celebrate, I asked some friends to help out by showing sneaks of the collection on their blogs. They graciously said yes, so we're doing a little blog hop with a huge reward at the end. Looking forward to hearing all your feedback and sharing behind-the-scenes photos throughout the next few weeks. We have tons of fun stuff in the works, so let's just start with some of the product shots...

After you visit all the blogs, be sure to go back to American Crafts and tell us what you liked best to be entered to win the entire collection. Yes, the entire collection of fabric stickers, stitched papers, Thickers, Mix Tape, the whole deal is being given away to one lucky commenter. Right on!

details details

So my mind has been a bit scattered recently and I thought I was completing an American Crafts assignment by doing this page with Details.

Um, turns out after I made the entire page, I looked at the email and it was supposed to be made with Delights. Oops. In any case, the layout uses mostly Margarita goodies, and there's a giveaway of the entire collection on the AC blog. You only have until tomorrow morning to enter though!

Today I had the fun opportunity to crop with a group of ladies at our last remaining local scrapbook store, Sonja's Scrapbook Spot. Really enjoyed chatting with everyone and joking about how we often ask ourselves, "Do I need this?" when trying to justify a new craft purchase. Sonja was so sweet to open her doors (and bring in Starbucks coffee), and we enjoyed creating most of the day away.

Kim and I got to catch up, have some sushi for lunch, and snap a fun pocketbooth strip.
Finally I had a chance to play with some evalicious goodies:

We're already in talks for the next get together, so if you're a local scrapbooker and want to be included, let us know. As nice as it is to be so easily connected online - with people and with online stores, I was reminded again today how it's equally important to support local small businesses. Grateful to have a space to meet up with other creatives in the scrapbook world living on the westside.

And I managed to finish a few layouts including the one with the assignment for American Crafts using Delights. yay

washi tape film canister love

My tutorial on how to decorate a film canister (used to house all my Hambly washi tapes) is up on the blog today.

I have a couple extra undecorated canisters, so if you'd like to win one, just leave a comment below. I'll announce a winner on Friday.

Also, for those who have been asking, I have been working away at developing content for my next online workshop. It's going to run much like the first one did - 2 weeks on a private blog. And if you missed it, sign up at Big Picture Classes for the self-paced edition, so you can reference it whenever you'd like. So excited to share with you the details in the next couple weeks. Thanks!

get happy

Ahpo (grandma) is still in the hospital. She was admitted 11 days ago for pneumonia and now has a longer list of issues. After several visits, I can truly see that her strength is unrelenting. She's 85 years old and has lived a long, healthy life up until just a few years ago when it was determined that she needed dialysis 3 days a week. We're all hoping for a speedy recovery. Normally I try to only share the happy stuff in life, but I thought this was worth mentioning. All things considered, she's well taken care of by the wonderful staff at UCLA & she's following the NBA Playoffs as much as she can. She acknowledged and let out a small sign of happiness when I told her that the dogs seem to be missing her. And Asa and Star, who usually come over every Saturday night, are missing her as well. Hoping to have happier news to post about her, thanks to all who have already sent their well wishes, they are much appreciated!

On a lighter note, I have a little tutorial up on the Hambly blog that shows you how to do this:

Two Peas has all the Hambly washi tapes in stock now (I am assuming it won't last long). I took advantage of their free shipping offer and stocked up on the 3 packs I don't already have, which are the last 3 pictured here:
