Ready...Set...Create! Pre-Event Workshops!

Ready Set Create

Meet me at the starting line! Sometimes, meeting in person can give your creative practice the jumpstart it needs. This fall is the perfect opportunity to do so because I’m teaching 3 workshop sessions at Ready...Set...Create right here in Los Angeles! Ready...Set…Create is an awesome event run by the lovely folks over at Down to Details. Here is a description of the event if you’re curious:

Ready...Set...Create (RSC) is an amazing event that was put together after much thought, emails and requests from attendees and teachers too!  The event features fabulous teachers, new techniques, and is affordable, and enjoyable for all in attendance!  The third year is officially in the books and was a huge success!

BRUSH LETTERING - Ever want to try your hand at lettering and modern brush script? Join Amy Tangerine as she takes you through the basics of hand lettering and brush calligraphy using watercolors. In this class, you'll learn how to gain confidence with Amy's favorite water brush (and other supplies) while creating and defining a style that's all your own. We will go over lettering techniques for forming letters with tools that will help you find your lettering style. At the end of class, you'll be able to create your own custom lettered print and a skill set that can be applied to future projects. With a little bit of practice and the tools and kit you'll be given in class to take home, you'll learn that lettering is therapeutic, fun and even a little addictive!

If this sounds like something you need in your life this fall, never fear! I’m offering not one, but two intimate sessions for a lot of one-on-one attention. There’s plenty of space and it’s easy to register. Sign up for the 10 AM Session here or for the 1 PM Session here.

TRAVELER’S NOTEBOOK - Have you been looking for a fun way to document your life without the bulk of a traditional scrapbook? Look no further! Amy Tangerine will be teaching a class on how she uses Traveler's Notebooks to preserve her memories, whether she is traveling abroad or staying home with her family. This class will focus on how to incorporate memorabilia, how to use different pens to create eye-catching journaling, how to create cohesive spreads, and many others! The gorgeous kit is full of goodness that you'll use in fun and fresh ways. You'll learn some fun techniques and create some one-of-a-kind mini-masterpieces by combining your photos with products from Amy's collections with American Crafts and more. She'll demonstrate simple methods that look complex and help you see the supplies in a fresh new light, even for on-the-go. Register for the session here!

3 Highlights from the Erin Condren Workshop

Find out what you love to do and where your heart sings. Make it a part of your every day. Last month, I had the opportunity to head down to the beautiful state of Texas to teach a stamping workshop at the Erin Condren Flagship store in Austin. It was an amazing time! I got to play fun products from our collaboration and interact with some awesome crafters.

Highlights from the Erin Condren Workshop

Here are three highlights from the workshop:

1. The awesome space. If you haven’t had the opportunity to go to an Erin Condren store, you should. It’s colorful, inspiring, and an ideal space for stamping and crafting to happen. After all, it’s hard not to smile when you’re on a rainbow staircase with an amazing group of crafty women!

2. The incredible sense of community and positivity. We spent Saturday morning sharing the joy of stamping, planning and getting creative. We used the stamps in my collaboration with Erin, of course. In a world, where competition is so dominant, it’s an amazing feeling to come into a space where everyone gets to express themselves, there are no wrong answers or bad ideas– it’s just people putting themselves out there, trying new things and seeing what happens. It’s one of my favorite things to see how people inspire and encourage each other.

3.  Getting to see products being put to good use and all the amazing different ways people use them to make their own crafts! Also I’m seriously considering putting together a creative retreat so let me know in the comments where you’d want it to be held! I’ve also created an interest form you can fill out here.

So many people reach out to me and say they aren’t sure where to start or what to focus on in their creative journeys. If you’re looking for more great ways to craft a life you love, the only signed copies of my book are available at Erin’s flagship store in Austin.

It’s hard to not smile when you’re on a rainbow staircase with an amazing group of crafty women! It was such an amazing morning sharing the joy of stamping, planning and getting creative. There’s nothing like connecting in person so hopefully you can join on the Plannerland in Paradise Cruise in March 2020 that I’m excited to be a part of. Have you gone to a live event? Aren’t they the best? You can always see where I will be for events listed on the sidebar of the blog.

Queen Bee Craft Night San Diego!

Busy Bees Creative Crafting

If you've never been to a Queen Bee Market Craft Night (or any of their events, really), you might be missing out. It's a gathering of fun with creative ladies from all over coming together to spend time with one another and of course get their craft on. After teaching at my first Queen Bee Craft Night in Vegas, I was delighted when they asked me to lead the workshops in San Diego. It was such a gorgeous setting, produced by Mint Studio and a whole team of amazing people.

I had never been to the incredible Flower Hill shopping center and was blown away by all the cute shops, restaurants, and how kid friendly it was. Next time, we are definitely bringing Jack down.

Of course, one of the best things about my job is seeing what people do when they are creatively inspired. I saw so many women express themselves in beautiful, new, unique ways. Everyone’s work was so different and personal and meaningful to them. I shared my story with them in the beginning and then we worked on a variety of paper projects.

Another thing that made the event so uplifting  was the village of incredible artists who came together to create the look and feel of it. The positivity and energy was so good, especially when we all came together for a beautiful group picture toward the end of the event! Everything from the cookies to the decorations to the goody bags was created by people with great instinct for art, color, and positive vibes. That definitely contributed to the event feeling special and amazing. You can also check out my vlog about the event on YouTube! So, what do you think was the coolest thing about this event? Do you feel inspired to attend a Queen Bee Market Craft Night? Let me know in the comments below!

My Pinterest Book Release Event!

Amy Tangerine book launch

My book, Craft A Life You Love, is out now and I got to have my book release party at Pinterest Headquarters in San Francisco! (I got so many compliments on the dress - it's from Rent the Runway, I have been using the monthly Unlimited plan since my wedding!)

In a moment of pure serendipity, I ran into Tiffany from Pinterest at Alt Summit and mentioned to her that I would be in San Francisco for the day my book was set to be released. One thing led to another, and I ended up hosting my book release party in their Workshop collaborative space!

Pinterest opened the Workshop to bring a virtually-connected world into a physical space where they host events and classes with a creative theme in mind. I'm so glad that the stars aligned in the way that they did, because this ended up being the perfect place to host my event. They even featured me in their blog!

It was so fun to meet a bunch of you and play with watercolors together!  I love that the people who support me are so creative and talented in such a wide variety of ways. Between the people, energy of the space, and the backdrop of colorful balloons made by the fantastic Zim Balloons, this was just the best book release party I could’ve asked for.

Here's my video from the trip, to give you a sense of what it was like!

You can now buy the colorful and updated edition of Craft A Life You Love on Amazon and elsewhere. I hope that it inspires you to create and make time for the things you love, no matter how busy you are!
