The time it took me to complete my first 5K.
Though I was sort of dreading my first road race ever, it turned out to be a really fun thing. I took 2 puffs of my asthma inhaler at 7:30am and felt great the entire run & afterward as well. It helped that my BFF & I made a pact to stay together, to run as much as we could & to walk when one of us felt like it. We took our time and set our goal to complete the race in under 40 minutes. Reasonable goal setting typically brings joy. Last year I wanted to do a half marathon, and when someone suggested a 5K or 10K, I said I didn't want to get hooked on these road races, I just wanted to do the half marathon to say that I did it. Since then I have realized that my ambitious nature comes across many random things it wants to do, but really first things first. It was so fun, and being the BFF she is, she's already chosen the next one. Hope to see you at this one on May 8th.

Of course we couldn't resist in some silly picture taking in Chinatown.
Pulled out my "How to save the world" book & thought this was worth taking note of. I plan on sharing more photos from this little book soon. Happy Monday!

Project: enjoy life. every bit of it.

Been enjoying my time in Atlanta, seeing old friends, relaxing, and even doing some scrapping. Totally into little photos right now and cannot get enough of them. I love documenting the events with a bunch of little pictures. Although I feel as though we don't take enough photos while out and about enjoying the moment, I have been working on taking more and have been having a great time handing my camera over for unexpected lovely shots. See fun pages below...

Had fun Friday night at the Sketchbook Project party. Really thinking about signing up for the Canvas Project and think you should too. It was sort of surreal receiving phone calls from this girl and a couple others who were sort of "spying" on me through the live video feed. Fun night, and Stephanie looked super hot in our lotus blossom tank.

I love this shot of Jessika in Hawaii with our Hi Bye tank top on enjoying the view.

08 things on 08.08.08

01. Happy about getting a new vehicle... 2008 Honda CR-V. Although a hybrid would have been my first choice, for business purposes, I went with a reliable SUV with pretty good gas mileage.

02. They had me hit the gong at the dealership which was waaaay fun.

I hit it hard and it was loud.

03. Buster's happy and wanted to share his big smile while Bamboo's got her head in the clouds and is dreaming big.

04. Adorable little Madeline has some good advice on her tee.
05. The 5 of us thoroughly enjoyed a perfect evening at the Santa Monica Pier enjoying a free concert, the best meal prepared by Dana, complete with S'mores for dessert. And of course we had plenty of wine. Can't think of a more delightful way to have dinner... Big thanks Dana!
06. A page from the "How to Save the World" book, photo taken by Tara Whitney.

07. A delightful little book that I would recommend to everyone (it took 30 minutes to read and has had a wonderfully positive impact on my thinking) given to me by someone I miss all the time:

"darlin' do not fear..."

what you don't really know. An amazing song by Brett Dennen that has been playing on and on repeatedly all morning. There is uncertainty in the air but as he says best,
"Darlin' do not fear what you don't really know 'cause it won't last - your worries will pass
All your troubles they don't stand a chance "

I am off to set up the d&a LA show today, something I have done for the past 4 and half years, but this time it's different and I am dreading it just a teeny tiny bit. Thankfully my cousin CIndy is here and we have some delightful helping hands at the show, so perhaps it will be all good. So this is where I will be through Sunday. Come and see me and the new Winter/Holiday collection...

I read a great profile piece on a woman who is quite the inspiration and shows that you don't have to just do one thing to feel whole. I like the idea of experiencing different bits of life and love and building up little endeavors of varying creative interests.

ArtHouse has received my sketchbook for "How to Save the World". Just thought I would share with you all the cover... can't wait for this amazing event.
