South Africa Scrapbook Convention
Currently en route to Germany (so excited, it's my first time and I am really looking forward to meeting some of you!) and I thought it would be a good time to catch up on posting photos from my last trip, the South Africa Scrapbook Convention. American Crafts was one of the sponsors, along with others like Bo Bunny and Simple Stories. 450 people were in attendance in Johannesburg and 150 people in Cape Town. In between the teaching weekends, we all went on an amazing safari. That whole experience deserves it's own post for sure. Working on editing the video and organizing all the photos. The daybook is something I worked on while traveling and a bit when I got back. It will make it's debut in January in my book! Okay, back to the event. The organization of the event was spectacular. It's actually a bit hard for me to put the entire experience into words - good thing I handed off my camera for some photos.
What I can tell you is that I am forever grateful for all the people involved in making it happen - especially Glenda and her husband, and her entire family, really. What would I have done without Kyle, their son, who helped me troubleshoot my slideshow and figured out how to get the presentation on the big screen after just a couple of frantic minutes in front of a room of 125 people. Gratitude goes to The Wholesaler for bringing our products into South Africa (and to Adele and Liz for being so darn sweet). The teachers were all such a hoot to be around, and I feel blessed to have had such a great group. And of course all the wonderful and talented women who took the classes and were excited to use the supplies from American Crafts, Pebbles and Studio Calico to stitch up their own mini book. There were women who traveled from faraway places (the UK! and Dubai!) and others who lived just 30 minutes away, all coming to the same place because they are obsessed—share the love—of an amazing hobby called scrapbooking. Amazing. Oh and when you say "Thank you" there, the people respond, "Pleasure". It was a pleasure, indeed.
