Must Love Dogs
My BFF Courtney is absolutely wonderful. I need not profess my love for her here on this blog - she knows how much I appreciate her and I doubt she reads this thing anyway. But I just had to share that I admire her positive outlook on life, her laughter (it's contagious) and her strength through adversity. Earlier this year, she lost her beloved Golden Retriever, Cali. I've only suffered the loss of one dog in my life (Addison) and it brings me to tears just thinking about the moment my dad called (October 27, 2005) to tell me that he had taken him to the vet to be put down. Addison was 15 and had been diagnosed with liver cancer just a couple months before. My dad shared how it seemed Addision just knew it was time for him to go, and how brave he was through it all. Now I'm crying. Back to my BFF. Cali had an amazing life because of Courtney. She lived most of her 12 years in California just blocks from the Pacific Ocean. She truly lived it up. And now she can forever live not only in Courtney's heart, but also around her neck. When I handed her this locket by Liz Lameroux, she cried. And then of course I cried.
Now, many months later, I am happy to report that Courtney has adopted a sweet girl named Poppy. Buster and Bamboo had the pleasure of meeting her when she was just 8 weeks old! As 6 and 7 year-old's, they weren't too fond of playing with her (though they loved and destroyed a toy or two!). But they did enjoy spending time in her backyard while she napped.
You can see how much she's grown, follow her fun adventures, and read more of the story on Courtney's blog.
