Week in the Life : Tuesday

Super sweet Stephanie Howell posted a giveaway for some Amy Tangerine & American Crafts goodies on her blog!

Weather: Sunny, 69 degrees in the morning, high of 83. Woke up at 6:15 with a headache, but thankfully it was gone within an hour. JC walked Buster and then we drove him to LAX for his 8am flight to NYC. Buster was so excited to get to the house, he barely let me get the bags from the back seat. Since no one's been at the house for over a week, there was a lot of mail waiting, and I spent about 10 minutes sorting through all of it. Cindy's books for grad school arrived from Amazon. I found the Instax mini box with all the instructions and put an additional pack of film in for my trade for the 210. I got the 210 film I ordered from Amazon, camera should be here Thursday. Ate Cheerios out of the box because there's no milk. Felt like a little kid. Had lots of work to get done before leaving for downtown errands. But I decided to make kale chips first and then I worked while they were baking. Oops, I burnt an entire tray, but it didn't stop me from eating most of them. Scrapfest classes went on sale this morning and within 5 hours, there was only 1 spot left. Got fabric, templates and Buster and headed out the door. 11:05 left the house and cruised down to American Apparel. 3 orders were waiting for us to be picked up. Buster got some love from a cute girl who said she has a chihuahua. As I drove past Jack in the Box, I couldn't resist the urge to drive thru. I picked up a Jr. bacon cheeseburger and 3 stuffed jalapenos. I ate nearly all of it on the way to the laser cutter. I walked in with my sheet of paper and fabric and explained what I needed. He asked for my phone number and said it would be done in a week. Then Buster and I got stuck in traffic on the 10 West and finally got home at 12:25pm. Coke was calling my name and I ended up drinking the whole can. It hit the spot. So did knowing the Scrapfest class was sold out. Yay. I made some fun little samples, talked to Richard from American Crafts and then at 4:00pm, took Buster out for a walk. When we returned I realized I was late for the Honda appt. I put the iPad in my purse and we left for Airport Marina Honda and arrived there at 4:45. After lots of negotiation and deciding I could live with a non-silver car (the new one is light blue). Finally at 7:15, we drove off the lot in our new 2011 CR-V. My craving for Del Taco took over and I got the usual: 2 chicken soft tacos and 1 bean & cheese burrito, easy beans, both sauces. I finished half of it in the car and ate the rest when I got home. Had just put a Biore nose strip on when Buster looked at me and wanted to go for a walk. I made him wait 10 minutes and then took him for a slow walk where all he did was pee. And now I am just waiting for mommy & ahpo's (and bamboo's) flight to land and we'll go scoop them from the airport. Hopefully it won't be too much past midnight. I'm tired already and it's only 9:20. Decided to lay down in my old room (which is now Cindy's room) and get a little cuddle time with Buster.

Sunday + Monday

After seeing Ali's and Elise's, I decided to post some of the photos taken for Week in the Life. I have also included ramblings about the details of each day. My favorite part will definitely be taking these prints and putting them onto paper with all the assorted ephemera collected.
Week in the Life : Sunday

Lazy Sunday started off early (we don't sleep past 7:30 much these days) with a lot of laying around. JC picked up coffee for us as well as a breakfast burrito from Groundwork. We watched a couple episodes of Breaking Bad Season 3. We both worked in our tiny kitchen preparing the ribs before they went into the crock pot. I got crafty and JC played basketball. Buster and I took a long walk to the beach. We ate the ribs with Trader Joe's Macaroni and Cheese (the frozen one is SO good), and watched some more Breaking Bad, of course.

Week in the Life : Monday

News headline from NY Times: Norway Terrorist May Have Had Accomplices. Weather: Partly Sunny 70's. Walked Buster after waking up at 7:15am. We grabbed a coffee for JC at Flake. Came back and I made myself a toasted english muffin with creamcheese. (Don't knock it, it's quite delicious.) JC left for work (Yahoo!). Buster spent a lot of the day on my lap while I worked to play catch up on the computer. I plugged JC's kindle in to charge and made the bed. Our bed gets made on most weekdays. I worked from Venice and snacked on wasabi peas around lunchtime. Cindy and I skyped. Bamboo looked super confused. As I was about to walk out the door with Buster for an afternoon walk, Kara facetimed me on the iPod. So fun to see Lily and Newell all big. JC stopped at Nordstrom on his way back and got himself a grey Jack Spade laptop case that was on sale. We walked with Buster to Whole Foods. When we came back, we had a lovely ravioli dinner with a pre-made chef salad and pretzel rolls. Then of course we tried to finish off Season 3 of Breaking Bad but I fell asleep halfway through the last episode. JC refused to tell me how it ended, and I am not sure I can watch that show by myself. Buster was already crashed out in the middle of the bed. It's amazing how much space an 11 pound Jack Russell can take up. I read about 20 pages of Room and said, "Goodnight, enjoy your nap", since we had to wake up in 5 hours.

I'll be joining Ali Edwards for the second time with her project, Week in the Life. The outcome and thoughts from my first year can be found here. I'm going with the same plan as last year, lots of photos and keeping it fairly simple & manageable. Looking forward to seeing everyone's process and how it differs. Someone had a fun suggestion to record the weather. This year I am definitely going to make more of an effort to record the tiny little ordinary details. I'm not restricting the sizes of the pages, as I am taking inspiration from Project Life by Becky Higgins. I plan on using the same American Crafts page protectors from last year.

I started yesterday (mostly because I will be on vacation next Sunday), and captured just a few photos. It was a lazy weekend, but these are the little details I want to record & remember. One of those moments was Buster just planting his butt down on the grass in Santa Monica to look out onto the beach. There was a female dog he wanted to check out as well, but her owner was getting a massage. Wait, an outdoor massage by the beach... that's what we should have been doing instead of taking our long walk. Hmm.

Here's a quote I found to be inspiring, and if you're on the fence about doing this project, I hope it puts you over the edge.

"In this world, somehow an ordinary life has become synonymous with a meaningless life. And so often we are missing what is truly important because we are on the quest for what is extraordinary. Not understanding that in our ordinary lives, in the ordinary moments of our lives, is really where we can find the most joy. " - Brene Brown
