Speak the Joy!

Speak the Joy!

There’s nothing like good conversation and there's always room for more happiness and enjoyment in our lives. Seek the Joy is a lovely podcast hosted by Sydney Weiss about the importance of a life filled with (you guessed it) joy! It’s all about letting go of negative self-talk, telling your story, and reconnecting with your soul. The podcast itself is a great listen and I highly recommend checking it. I was lucky enough to be featured as the guest on Sydney's 40th episode and our conversation was incredible. You can listen to it on iTunes or her website. If you don't have time to drop everything and listen right now, I’ve decided to share three highlights from it here:

  1. It was a great talk! Even though we hadn't met in person or even chatted before, Sydney was so easy to talk to. Not only did the conversation flow… I enjoyed every second of it. It can be intimidating to speak with someone you’ve never met before, but Sydney put me at total ease and it was fun.

  2. We covered awesome topics! One of the main focuses was the connection between creativity and joy. If you read this blog or seen my YouTube channel, you know how strongly I believe in this link. The title of my book, Craft A Life You Love, hinges on creativity sparking joy and joy sparking creativity. It’s a beautiful, energetic cycle and talking with someone who values aligning with positivity was gratifying.

  3. Storytelling! We talked about the evolution of my brand and my book and my latest collaboration with Avery! For 15% off, use the discount code 15AVERYNAMY on Amazon! The story behind Craft A Life You Love and the incredible journey I went on to getting it published was part of the conversation. Hopefully, sharing my story will inspire others who need a little extra push to share their own creations, whatever they may be. If you haven't heard me get a little woo woo, this will be a great way to get filled in on how important enjoying the journey is for me.

Crafting the Right Mindset

I created a special download just for you listeners from our conversation, which can be downloaded here. You can also take a look at the show notes from Seek The Joy here.

The conversation left me feeling energized and happy. How often can you say that about something you do for work?! Thankfully it's often for me, but if it isn't for you, perhaps it's time to pause and reflect on how you can fill your days with more of the good stuff. So, what’s one thing in your life that brings you joy? Did you like the podcast episode? Be sure to let me know in the comments!

Scrapbook layouts using customizable stickers

DIY Stickers with Amy Tangerine + Avery

It's been a while since I have shown you some scrapbook pages. Funny thing because it's definitely still a passion and we make them on a regular basis for clients, I just haven't done a 12x12 page for myself lately. I've partnered with Avery once again to show you how simple it is to create stickers. Personalized stickers are fun and easy to make! I used their easy-to-use design software, Avery Design & Print Online  and I've created free downloads so you can print at home. I decided to combine my brush lettering with a simple font for a couple of the designs. You can also add a name easily and there's a video walking you through the process step by step. The easiest way to get started at Avery Design & Print Online is to enter your product number. In this case it was 41570 - White Adhesive Flags. Creating a free account allows you to save your projects and access it from any computer.

Free printable stickers

Here's a peek at how we created the stickers that you can customize with any name you'd like:

After downloading the free .avery files at the bottom of this post, you'll be able to open them and customize. To open them in avery.com/print, go to "Open a Saved Projects from My Computer" and choose the downloaded file. The designs will already be there with the names, but you can simply change the text to whatever you'd like. Unless you happen to have a need for all of these names - that would be some kind of coincidence! I printed them out on my HP Envy 7645 by putting the sheet into the 4x6 photo tray. So easy. Then I used them, along with the other Avery stickers (all linked below) for a client's scrapbook page featuring artwork as well as a layout for Jack with his first time using scissors.

Love that we can document our children's creativity and showcase it in a colorful and fun way. You can also see how this scrapbook layout came together in this video.

These would be great to put on all kinds of paper projects, not just scrapbook layouts. Thanks to Avery for sponsoring this post. You can find the free downloads below. If you happen to use these, please use #fangerine and #amytangerine - would love to see the projects on social media.

Avery | Oh Happy Day Banner

Avery x Amy Tangerine

Today I'm back with another project in collaboration with Avery. This time I'm making an "Oh Happy Day" banner using their printable perforated sheets and their easy-to-use design software. Avery Design & Print Online makes it super easy to create custom designs you can print at home. It's completely free to use and offers a selection of pre-designed template to customize. You can also choose to start from scratch and import your own artwork onto any of the templates. The easiest way to get started at Avery Design & Print Online is to enter your product number. In this case it was 80507 - Avery Matte White Banner Paper. Creating a free account allows you to save your projects and access it from any computer.

I decided to go with a fun, upbeat phrase that can be used for a wide variety of situations, including weddings, graduations, summer parties, birthdays, baby showers...the list is endless!

Avery x Amy Tangerine

In regards to printing your own artwork, I recommend printing your designs on a plain sheet of lightweight copy paper first and then lining it up with the Avery banner paper and ensuring that your letters are in the correct alignment by holding both sheets up to a light source. Full disclosure: I learned this the hard way ;)

Once I had all of the pages printed, I carefully popped out each banner piece from the perforation.

Next, I grabbed some of my Knot + Bow twine and began threading it through the holes in the letters.

From there, I hung the banner on the wall using a few strips of washi tape and did some rearranging to space out each letter evenly.

Oh happy day! It's always exciting to see a fun craft project come together!

Look how cute the banner looks with this gorgeous wooden wedding signage! For more ideas, check out this video:
