happily lost

The second collection I received for The Scrap Review was Lily Bee's Happily Lost. It's colorful and fun with bicycles, banners, and the cutest little letter stickers.

I love staying in hotels. Actually, let me rephrase that. I love staying in clean, unique, comfortable and chic hotels. Often I am wandering throughout random hotels in my dreams. And for some reason sometimes it turns into a school in my dreams, but that's another story.

Last month I had a companion ticket on Delta that needed to be used by the end of the month. We wanted a weekend getaway that was not too far away that both of us had never been to before. After looking up our options, we decided on Portland, OR. JC immediately found a NY Times Review where they recommended the Nines. After seeing that it was a Starwood hotel (we're suckers for miles and points), we decided it was just the place for us. Plus they had a fantastic promotion running and we ended up with a great deal.

The interiors were gorgeous and the room (thanks for the upgrade!) was spacious and luxurious. And another bonus: room service was from their excellent restaurant, Urban Farmer.

What are some of your favorite impressive budget-friendly hotels?

shop love

While in Portland, we visited this adorable store.

The owner was kind enough to let me take some snapshots of her gorgeous space. She has amazing taste, and if I had more room in my luggage (JC and I shared 1 carry-on), I may have walked out of the store with more goodies. For those who took my workshop & are still looking for the airmail zip pouch that I take on all my travels, ecru has them.
Of course we couldn't walk out of the store empty handed. JC got me some washi tape and a laurel denise necklace like this one, but it says "dream up".

And then we walked down to Powell's Books where we could have easily spent the entire rest of the afternoon. It's also where I got JC some socks and a book.

He buys me washi tape & I buy him beer socks. Now that's love.

PDX=pretty darn exciting

While in Portland this weekend, we saw some rather funny things.

And I discovered the incredible joy that comes from taking remote photos of oneself jumping on a king sized hotel bed.
