It's no secret that I have a major affinity for paper and fabric. I often sew on paper and have been putting words on tee shirts for years. So when CK asked me several months ago to contribute to a special issue called Scrapbooking with Fabric & Notions, I got a bit giddy. And the other day when I got this in the mail, I totally did a happy dance.
Here's the description: Discover how to enhance your scrapbook layouts using buttons, fabric, thread, and other materials from the sewing world. From using quick, pre-made accent options to creating beautifully sewn backgrounds, we'll help you learn the ins and outs of adding homespun textures to your layouts with patterns, step-by-step instructions, and more. You won't want to miss this "sew" special issue from Creating Keepsakes.
This issue is full of amazing ideas and techniques. The dress I am wearing in the photos above was made by one of my favorite designers, Rebe and a similar style can be found on Specks & Keepings. I'll be teaching how to make these flowers as part of my layout class in Newark, CA this Saturday at Our Paper Place.
It's a fun technique that's showcased on page 83 in the magazine as well. The other layout I made for this has some celebrities with our shirts and shows a way to put fabric down with minimal sewing.
Sew, what does this have to do with you? Creating Keepsakes is giving away a copy of this special issue to one of you fine blog readers. Just leave a comment below sharing something you've created lately or wish to make. Winner will be announced on Friday. Good luck!
