funny story

This was shared to me via email, thought you all would get a kick out of it too.

Hello Amy, I have a funny story to share with you. I have been trying to order one of your papers on 2Peas for several months. Everytime it comes in, I put it in my cart, but when I get ready to hit the BUY button, the paper is already sold out. It’s happened 3 different times at 2peas. Anyway, I decided to travel to a scrapbook store 2 towns over and try to get this specific paper. This is the conversation I had with the sweet lady trying to help me in the scrapbook store.

ME– I’m looking for the Amy Tangerine LOVE paper. It’s kraft with the word LOVE in white all over it.

Saleslady — What? Who?

Me – Amy Tangerine, she has collections with American Crafts.

Saleslady — Who? I have no idea what you’re talking about.

Me — WHAT? Amy Tangerine is the Julia Roberts of the scrapbooking world. How in the world could you not know who she is?

Saleslady — Julia who?

Me — You know, Pretty Woman?

Saleslady — Are we still talking about scrapbooking here?

ME– LOL — shaking my head as I walk out of the store with no Amy Tan paper.

Anyway — I wanted to share that conversation with you. I hope it makes you smile today.

nothing MORE FRUSTRATING than going into a freakin’ scrapbooking store and having employees who do not know ANYTHING about the products!!

HAHAHA – that is really hilarious. Now I wish I would have picked up that paper. I saw it at my LSS and decided I didn’t *need* it but now you’ve reminded me of it again :) It’s super cute, btw.

Too funny! Unfortunately, I’ve had similar experiences in my local scrapbook stores. I have no idea how it can be possible they’ve not heard of your products!

I can relate! You don’t live near Savannah, do you? I have had a similar conversation at the only shop for about 100 miles near me!

Aww wish she found your paper. What kind of person in a scrapbook store has never heard of Amy Tan?? And she’s the sales lady??!!? You are like the scrapbook queen!

OK…the gal that emailed you… We all need someone like her in our lives. She’s a gem. What a marvelous attitude she has! This story had me spewing my hot tea on the keyboard. A great story — except for the fact that she left empty-handed. Thank you Amy for sharing it. ;-)

This story cracked me up, too funny. I agree it is an awesome piece of paper.

One of the SC kits has it, maybe there is some in stock

Haha, that totally reminds me when you were in Germany last year teaching – at the beginning of that week my friend Dana and I went to a japanese bookbinding class. And while Dana and the shop owner were out of the room, cutting paper and such, I started a conversation with the remaining six ladies about paper crafting. I said: Yeah on Friday there’s this big scrapbooking event with Amy Tan and I’m so excited to go there, any of you ladies going there, too? Blank expressions on the faces of everyone in the room ^^ I try to explain: Amy Tan? Amy Tangerine? American Crafts? Do you know Kelly Purkey? – Nothing. Later on I told Dana about it and she couldn’t stop laughing ^^ Sometimes there’s nothing more hilarious than awkward silence :D

Oh no, I know the feeling. I would send her one of my sheets I found here in NYC. I know the feeling, I tried to get the paper from 2peas and I always miss out. lol

Ha, pretty funny story! But WOW! It really bugs me that people who work or own a scrapbook store should absolutely know the industry and the products. Hmm…could possibly be why alot of them are going out of business. i LOVE that paper!!
